At PEACE Punta de Mita, we believe that true change begins with awareness and engagement. This is why events like our 8M Art Exhibition are so important—not only to honor women’s voices and achievements but also to inspire the next generation to take an active role in promoting equality and inclusion.
On March 6th, our campus became a space of creativity, reflection, and dialogue as we hosted the “Mujeres Artistas en PEACE Punta de Mita” exhibition. Organized by our dedicated teacher, Elizabeth Villamil, this event brought together local women artists and our program beneficiaries in a celebration of female resilience, creativity, and empowerment.
The exhibition featured an array of artistic expressions, including paintings, blown glass art, ceramic pieces, floral arrangements, and inspiring collages depicting the dreams of our beneficiaries. These works not only highlighted the talent and perseverance of women in the arts but also encouraged our students to dream big and pursue their own creative passions.
A special part of the event included interviews with influential women from Punta de Mita, Higuera Blanca, and Corral del Risco. These women shared their experiences, challenges, and triumphs, offering a powerful message of determination and support to the younger generation. The participating artists, including Miriam Arenas, Daffany Ruelas García, Trina Steel, Elizabeth Villamil, Fátima Morales, and others, engaged in meaningful conversations with attendees, reinforcing the idea that art can be a catalyst for social change.
Beyond the beauty of the artwork displayed, this exhibition served as a reminder of the importance of including young people in conversations about gender equality. By experiencing firsthand, the power of artistic expression and community support, our students are inspired to foster respect, inclusion, and empathy in their communities.
The exhibition will remain open until April 11th, offering everyone in our community the opportunity to visit and immerse themselves in the stories and artistic expressions that make this event so special. If you have not yet visited PEACE Punta de Mita’s new facilities, this is the perfect occasion to do so! To schedule a visit, please contact Elizabeth Villamil at elizabeth@peacepuntademita.org.
